Beaket is now public

Beaket is now public. Anyone can sign up and start using it.

What it does

It records and connects decisions made during product development. That’s it.

“Why did we go with this spec?” “Why this design direction?” “Why this technology?” — these decisions are made every day in Slack threads and PR reviews, and they disappear just as quickly. Beaket is a tool for capturing them in minimal form before they’re gone.

Three node types give decisions structure:

  • Spec — The starting point: what to build, and why
  • Brief — A design judgment and its reasoning
  • ADR — A technical choice, the reasoning behind it, and what was discarded

Nodes connect through edges.

Other capabilities:

  • Threaded comments with @mentions
  • Text-level change history tracking
  • Ready Flags for designer–developer handshake
  • Full-text search (CJK support)
  • Decision Map (Pro)
  • GitHub, Jira, and Confluence integrations (Pro)

For a deeper look at the thinking behind this, see Why We Preserve Decisions, Not Specs.
